Dr. Barbara Hrach

Barbara A. Hrach M.D. FACP:

Dr. Hrach completed her undergraduate education from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, graduating cum laude with a BA degree in Chemistry.  Her junior year was spent studying at  Philipps Universitaet in Marburg Germany. Dr. Hrach earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1992. She completed her internship and residency in Primary Care Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama.  In 1995 Dr. Hrach moved to California, initially landing in Ventura,  where she practiced for a year with Foundation Health Medical Group. In 1996  she moved to Santa Barbara to pursue an opportunity to practice at Sansum Medical Clinic. Realizing her preference to practice in a more intimate medical environment, she joined Dr. Richard Danson in his private practice in 1997.  In January 2005. Dr. Hrach realized her lifelong dream of private practice and began her solo practice.

Dr. Hrach has been involved in many medical research projects throughout her career at prestigious institutions including Case Western Reserve University, Harvard University and the Centers for Disease Control.

Dr. Hrach has been involved in teaching. She has an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Medicine at USC Keck School of Medicine, volunteering her time to the teaching of third year medical students in the outpatient setting.  She has an affiliation with UCLA School of Nursing and has supervised Nurse Practitioner students in her office. She has also been involved in teaching the medical resident physicians at Cottage Hospital.

Dr. Hrach was elected into fellowship of the American College of Physicians in April 2005. This honorable distinction is granted to a small percentage of internists who excel in their profession.  (www.acponline.org/membership/join/fellowship/patient_information.pdf)

Dr. Hrach is involved in community activities including acting as medical director of Hillside House and  Jessie Hopkins Hinchee Foundation in Santa Barbara. These facilities provide homes and medical care to developmentally disabled adults.

In addition to the above organizational associations, Dr. Hrach is also an active member of the Central Coast Medical  Association, the California Medical Association, the American Medical Women’s Association, the American Telemedicine Association and the California Telehealth Network.

Dr. Hrach was born in Cleveland Ohio in 1965. She met her future husband (a native Santa Barbarian) while in medical school and moved to California after completing her residency. She was married in 1997 and is mother to two wonderful children, Elizabeth and Clayton.

Dr. Hrach enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys the outdoors and regularly engages in outdoor activities including running, boating, hiking, biking and paddle boarding.  She is an avid reader and dabbles in jewelry making.
