Dr. Viglione earned his undergraduate degree in Biology and History with honors at Boston College in 2004 followed by a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology at UC Santa Barbara where his research focused on developmental genetics. He was deeply rooted in undergraduate teaching during this time which included courses and laboratories in general biology, microbiology, developmental biology, while tutoring genetics and biochemistry. He then spent a year working at the Dept of Homeland Security based microbiology laboratory in Los Angeles studying bioterrorism prior to pursuing his Medical Degree at the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. This is where he fell in love with Internal Medicine; the symbiotic union of science and patient care. He returned to the west coast for residency in Internal Medicine in 2012 at Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco where he focused on generalized inpatient and outpatient primary care, receiving certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in 2015. Following graduation, he relocated to Orange County, CA where he spent 5 years in private practice at renowned Edinger Medical Group prior to realizing his dream of joining a boutique concierge practice back in Santa Barbara, where his love for medicine began.
Dr Viglione’s professional interests include sports medicine, nutrition, technology and medicine, and preventative care. He is a certified personal trainer by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and consistently incorporates diet/exercise into his approach to wellness. He enjoys personalized medicine and close longitudinal care to include both disease prevention and hospital based care, if needed. His caring approach to medicine is palpable on the first interaction.
Dr Viglione lives and breath’s what he preaches: He enjoys running, outdoor sports and hiking, weight lifting, boxing, classical concerts, exploring healthy recipes, reading and continual education, and family walks with his beautiful girlfriend and border collie.
